Blanka and Ashlynda

Description

Two of my most recent characters!  This duo was developed when I was reworking the order of events of the second book in my Simian Rapscallion story, and added in a new section, thus necessitating NEW CHARACTERS YAY.

Blanka (left) and Ashlynda (right) are norbatruls, the same species as Jaymond.  I figured I should get a complete picture of these two done, not only to get their individual designs sorted out, but also to give people a better idea of what the species looks like as a whole.  (The only fullbody picture of Jaymond I've submitted so far was at kind of a weird angle so it probably didn't do the best job of demonstrating this.)  As you may be able to tell, norbatruls are best known for their long legs and large feet, which make them the best runners of all the Purithyan species.  They also have the widest variety of fur colours and patterns, which is another reason why I wanted to show more individuals of the species.

As for these two specifically, Blanka and Ashlynda work as a hunting team, using a slightly modified version of the traditional norbatrul hunting method.  Ashlynda's position in the team is the "hunt tracker", her role being to locate and follow the path of the intended prey.  Blanka is the "hunt runner", who makes the chase and the final kill.  They also ride their specially-trained skilyg in the initial stages of the hunt, but I didn't include them in this picture because I was mainly focussing on the norbatruls.

The tracker/runner hunting technique has been utilised by norbatruls for centuries, mostly to hunt land griffins.  But with land griffins now being increasingly farmed by other species, their meat has become much more readily available, and demand for hunted specimens is steadily declining.  Thus Blanka and Ashlynda have updated the technique for use with smaller but rarer prey, which they can make a good living out of by catering to those with more exotic tastes.

Awesome designs dude! I always like the characters you create, those big feet are really cute. I do love the different colors in their fur and such for this species!

Interesting hunting background for them too, interested to see them more in the future.
